Zahara de Los Atunes, Near Tarifa, and not far from Seville and much more

Paradise is not as far away as you thought it was...this is Zahara de Los Atunes which is in southern Spain, in the province of Cadiz. We have a super holiday home there and it is genuinely paradise, please enjoy our blog and ask any questions about the house or the area and we will be very happy to help you.

It is a wonderful base if you wish to see some of Andalucia, visit North Africa or the perfect spot to forget about any stresses of life and feel happy and relaxed. We love it and this area of Spain retains charms missing these days in parts of the UK and other fast moving European countries.

You can see photos and a description of the house just a little below and we are also adding information gradually about nearby spots, such as Tarifa.

The Interior of a Perfect Holiday Home Zahara de los Atunes

Let's start at the beginning... and that is the front door of the holiday home at Zahara de Los Atunes.

Kind of cute isn't it?

And next some views of the lounge, which is really comfortable.

This is the heart of the house in the evening time, but only when it is not warm enough to stay out at one of the patios.

As you can see in the photo the lounge areas connects by way of an American Breakfast Bar to the kitchen making for a sociable house!

The floors are rustic terracota tiles, with pale primrose yellow adorning the walls.

As you can see there is a comfortable sofa, and continuing with the rustic decoration we have a wood dresser.

There is plenty of light also in the living room.

There is no lack of glasses in the dresser!

You also have views out to the patio through the spacious windows.

If you fancy reading or relaxing in the study? We have some books there which you are very welcome to enjoy.

Last but not least, the place to dream and lay your head down peacefully at night time..

Tarifa-Trendy, Historical with Spectacular Views

Tarifa is the main town close to Zahara de Los Atunes and has a special charm about it in many peoples' opinions. It combines a chic, trendy boutique town with the feeling of history and absolutely amazing views to Africa.

It is very well know by the windsurfing community, and also one of the main departure points over to Africa from the south of Spain. The ferries are regular going over to Tangiers, Morocco.

Tarifa is renowned for a buzzing social scene during the summer months, and it is just one of the places that has a real feel good factor about it. It retains the charms of a small town with lots of do for all the family, and for those travelling looking for night fun there is plenty of that too.

It has wind turbines dotted across the landscape and is a particularly popular place for migrating birds, especially the storks who cross the straits of Gibraltar in the spring and autumn.

Another fabulous activity is the whale and dolphin watching which can be done from here also.

Zahara de los Atunes

Situated on the Costa de la Luz between Barbate (9Klm) and Bolonia (20klm) and some 10 kilometres from the main N 340 highroad. Zahara is an ideal place for holidays with some of the very best beaches in Europe. Nearest airports are Jerez, Sevilla, Gibraltar and Malaga.

The house is a semi detached and has both front & back patios. There are 3 double bedrooms all with double beds with an upstairs bathroom
Ground Floor;
Sitting Room leading onto a large private walled patio
Kitchen with breakfast bar
Study/extra bedroom with convertible single chair/bed
Downstairs shower room/lavatory

The house is situated on the peripheral of the village and within a few minutes walk from the beach. Zahara boast one of the very few beach promenades that is completely made of wood and probably more than a kilometre in length.
Within easy reach of the village centre where there are shops and restaurants and even one local bank. The main avenue leads to the area known as Atlantera (Cabo de Plata) a couple of kilometres away which makes for a pleasant walk along the beach.
There are many excellent walks both country and beach. There is a scenic walk along a country path to the nearby ancient Roman Ruins, known as Bolonia (Baelo Claudia) where there are some good chiringuitos (beach restaurants) as well as a couple of good little restaurants in the village. The beaches are golden sand and very spacious. On most days there are good views over to Africa, on a clear night you can see the small Moroccan towns/villages lit up.

The house is well stocked and is like home from home with comfortable & pleasant furnishings. There is a bicycle in the garage which is useful for collecting the morning papers and fresh bread.

The village offers excellent eating out with a large number of good restaurants and nearly all accept the major credit cards. There are also small supermarkets & grocery stores as well as a Municipal Market selling fresh fish daily. The Municipal Market of Barbate is a must to visit as it takes the tourist back in time.
